Ian has sung, played guitar and performed from his teenage years. However, in 2007 redundancy from a Deputy Head teacher post allowed new things to develop and put music back to the fore in his life.
Ian can be found at a wide range of festivals in the North and further afield where he performs (with guitar), leads ukulele workshops and often comperes.
During the last summer he featured at wide range of festivals including the Maddy Prior’s Stepping Stones Festival, NEVfest, Music on the Marr, Woolfest, Mestival, The Mighty Dubfest, Redefest , the Alnwick International Music Festival, Corbridge Festival, Lindisfarne Festival, Baafest and the Allen valleys folk festival.
Stepping Stones is particularly special to him as it was at Maddy’s inaugural festival in 2011 that he returned to solo playing and now, at Kirklinton Hall, it is simply magical.
Over the weekend Ian will be playing a few songs, running some ukulele workshops (if you have a ukulele, bring it with you) and will have the pleasure to introduce some of the fantastic acts.
